5:00 PM - 7:30 PM Parkes Organised by the National Archives of Australia and presented by the Australian Society of Archivists, A Life in Archives: Honouring the Legacy of Dr Peter Orlovich recognises the outstanding career and contributions of Dr Peter Orlovich, a pioneering figure in Australian archival education and practice. This is a free event, however, registration is required.

About Individual Memberships

Membership is open to individuals working in archives and recordkeeping, as well as individuals in allied professions or those that support the Society’s objectives.

Individual Members can apply for Professional Recognition as:

  • an ASA Accredited Member (post-nominal ASAAM) i.e. an individual member holding a university qualification in a course accredited by the ASA (or equivalent)
  • an ASA Recognised Professional (post-nominal ASARP) i.e an individual member holding a university qualification (or equivalent), and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience at a professional level in archives and/or recordkeeping
  • an ASA Accredited Professional (post-nominal ASAAP) i.e. an individual member holding a university qualification in a course accredited by ASA (or equivalent), and a minimum of five (5) years of professional work in archives and/or recordkeeping (two of which must be undertaken post-completion of the qualification).

For any person who supports the aims of the Society, including honorary archivists and students.

Emerging Professional
For individuals who have within the last five years, finished a degree in archives, recordkeeping or related course of study, and are entering the archival profession for the first time. It is available for a maximum of 2 years.

Concession
For any person whose gross annual income (including superannuation contributions paid by employers) for the financial year is less than the current National Minimum Wage as set by Fair Work Australia. Evidence of status must be provided.

Student
For students undertaking full-time or part-time study in an accredited course or a relevant course in the galleries, libraries, archives, museums or records management sectors.
