Awards & Scholarships

The Archives and Manuscripts Sigrid McCausland Emerging Writers Award recognises the work of emerging writers who have published an article in the journal. Each year the members of the Archives and Manuscripts editorial board decide the winner of this award, which features a $1,000 cash payment.

The Loris Williams Memorial Fund, previously known as the Loris Williams Memorial Scholarship, is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, professionals, and researchers in the archival and records management profession.

Introduced in 1996, this award is for publications in the field of archives and recordkeeping. The award honours Phyllis Mander Jones who, amongst other contributions to the profession, authored Manuscripts in the British Isles relating to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, in 1972.

This annual award was instituted in 1989 and recognises academic achievement during a course of study.

The President's Award is presented to a member of the society who has made a significant contribution to the running of the society. This may be by managing a project such as a publication or conference.

The Professional Development Fund is a scholarship to support ASA individual members to access relevant professional development opportunities of their choice.

The Sharman Award was established in 2000 to assist members of more than one year standing with their professional development by offering travel, accommodation and registration assistance to attend the annual conference. The aim of the award is to support those who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference.
